Ravi Kapoor - When I came to kurash, I felt that I was in the right place and with people close to my soul
I am Ravi Kapoor. Living in Delhi capital of Bharat (India). I have started Judo in the year 1977. Kurash was introduced in India by the delegates of Uzbekistan in the year 1999.They demonstrated Kurash in different states of India. It was the time when I joined Kurash as an Organizer. In 2000 Kurash was registered in India under the guidance of Mr. Mukesh Kumar. Post registration time to time various Kurash tournaments were organized in India.
At present am holding the position of Technical and Refereeing Director of IKA. From 2017 to 2021 I was technical director of KCAO.

My strong association and journey began in the year 2002 when we organized Asian Kurash Championship at Delhi. After that I have never looked back and took Kurash to the next level. My first international exposure was Senior Asian Kurash Championship at Tehran (Iran) in year 2003. In 2004 I visited Shahrisabz (Uzbekistan) motherland of Kurash. Though Shahrisabz was a small town but people of that place were so cordial that all the guests were given a warm welcome by the local residents. Most of the participants stayed in local residents’ houses. It shows that their love towards Kurash is tremendous and this feeling made me so good that I felt that I am at the right place, game and with right people.
I was part of various games in the past but would like to emphasize that this kind of discipline, dedication and honesty I have not seen in and other game.
Under my leadership Kurash was included in School games (Under 14,17 & 19) Years boys & girls effective 2015 till date. I have organized 7 sub-Junior under 14 years boys and girls, 11 juniors under 20 years boys and girls and 13 Senior National Kurash championships.

Also, I organized 3 Asian Kurash Championships in the year 2002, 2012 and 2018. Junior World Kurash Championships in the year 2010 and 2016.
Refereeing and coaching seminar in 2023. I was declared world's best referee award two times by IKA. Under my guidance IKA has given the best coach award to Neena Saini and best referee award to Vikrant Kumar in the past.
Kurash India has won several awards for their performance time to time.

I was delighted when in 2018 Kurash was included in Asian Games, Jakarta Indonesia. Our happiness doubled when India got two medals one silver and one bronze by our young girls.
Mr. Haider Farman joined Kurash as a president of IKA in the year 2013 at Incheon during AIMAG. I would like to put on record that from that day to till date Kurash is doing exceedingly well on each platform. All the credit goes to Mr. Haider Farman for taking Kurash to this level that we are part of Asian Games till 2034. That day is not very far when Kurash will be part of Olympic Games.

From the day one I am connected to Mr. Ziyoviddin and Mr. Nassiri and needless to add here that they have helped me to grow in all spheres. Mr. Ziyoviddin is promoting Kurash worldwide like anything and Mr. Nassiri is helping everyone on technical front. I am always grateful to Mr. Nasiri for his mentorship.

I am so very grateful to Youth & Sports Affairs Ministry of Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan Kurash Federation for introducing WSP Prize money. First of all, their this act will help to increase the number of participation worldwide. I have more ideas to increase the number of participants in WSP.
I will also like to thank rector of IKI Mr. Tadjiev Khabibula and his team who is working towards terminology and techniques of Kurash.
His dedication and honesty have taken Kurash to the next level. He has left no stone unturned to make Kurash the better game.
